Terms of Service

Omnibus Readers is a hobbyist site for tracking and comparing collected comic editions. Using it means accepting what is below. It is written to be read, not to be impressive. Creating an account is where you accept it; the sign-up page says so and links here and to the privacy page.
Who can use it
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If we learn an account belongs to someone younger, we will delete it and the personal information that came with it.
- You must be able to enter into a contract where you live. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian should have read these terms too.
Your account
- You are responsible for what happens under your account. Keep your sign-in details to yourself.
- One account per person. Accounts exist to attribute contributions and hold a shelf, and duplicates break both.
- You can delete your account at any time from settings. What deletion does — and does not — erase is set out on the privacy page.
- We can suspend or remove an account that is being used to harass people, spam the catalog, or scrape the site.
What you post
- You keep ownership of what you write. By posting it here you give us permission to store it and show it to other members, which is the only way a comment can appear under a book.
- Post things you have the right to post. Do not post other people's work as your own, and do not upload cover scans or photographs you do not have the right to share.
- Harassment, hate, and deliberately false catalog data are the three things that will get content removed fastest.
- Moderators can hide or remove content, and can act on a report from another member. Deleting your account does not retract a comment that other people have already replied to; the body stays and your name comes off it.
Copyright complaints
Members upload images — forum photos, listing photos, cover scans — and sometimes one of them is not theirs to share. If something on the site infringes a copyright you own, tell us on the feedback board (sign-in required) with a link to the page it is on, what work it copies, and a way to reach you. We take material down promptly on a complaint that gives us enough to find it, tell the member who posted it, and put it back only if they answer that it was theirs to post and you do not object within two weeks. Repeat infringers lose their account.
Catalog data and contributions
- The catalog is assembled from many sources, listed on the data sources page, and used under their own licences. Where a source requires attribution, the site carries it.
- Corrections you suggest become part of the catalog if a curator accepts them. The record keeps a note of who changed what, so a value can be re-reviewed later — including after you leave.
- The catalog is offered as-is. Prices, release dates and contents lists are wrong sometimes; check before you buy.
Marketplace and trades
- Listings, offers and trades are between members. This site is not a party to the sale, does not take payment for it, and does not hold the goods.
- You are responsible for describing what you list accurately, for shipping what you sold, and for settling disputes with the other member. Feedback exists so the rest of the site can see how that went.
- Do not list anything you cannot legally sell. What else may not be listed, what happens when a listing is reported, and how to appeal a takedown are on the marketplace rules page.
Prices, retailers and affiliate links
- Prices shown come from retailers and go stale. The price on the retailer's own page is the real one.
- Some outbound links are affiliate links — as an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. That never changes which retailer is shown as cheapest; ordering is by price and availability.
- We do not control the sites we link to, and their terms and privacy practices are their own.
AI features
The reading-log assistant sends your question, and the parts of your log it needs, to a third-party model provider. Its answers are generated and can be wrong — treat them as a suggestion, not a record. What is stored and for how long is on the privacy page.
Supporter subscriptions
If you take out a supporter subscription, payment is handled by Stripe and your card details never reach this site. You can cancel at any time through the billing portal; cancelling stops the next renewal and leaves the rest of the current period in place. A period already paid for is not refunded unless the law where you live requires it.
Availability and liability
This is a hobby project run at hobby scale. It is offered as-is, with no warranty, and it will go down sometimes. Keep your own backup of anything you would miss — the export exists for exactly that. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from using the site, from data being wrong, or from a trade with another member.
If your use of the site gets us sued
If a third party brings a claim against us because of something you posted, listed, sold or uploaded, or because you broke these terms, you cover the reasonable cost of dealing with that claim. This is the other side of "you are responsible for what happens under your account".
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If something goes wrong, raise it on the feedback board first and give us a reasonable chance to sort it out. A dispute that cannot be resolved that way goes to the state or federal courts sitting in New York, and both sides agree to those courts. If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies.
Changes
These terms change as the site does; the date at the top moves when they do. Continuing to use the site after a change means accepting the new version.
