Synopsis
Black Jack is recognized as Osamu Tezuka’s third most famous series, after Astro Boy and Kimba, the White Lion. A rich medical drama that mixes mystery, intrigue, suspense and a dash of humor, with a fascinating main character who keeps his caring nature a secret, preferring instead to be perceived as a heartless cad. What does it mean to save a life? Osamu Tezuka grappled with questions of life, death, and humanity throughout his work, but never more immediately nor personally than in Black Jack. Drawing on his own training as a doctor, the God of Manga explores his conflicted feelings about the march of progress, injecting each of these all-time classic adventures with complicated antagonists, medical conundrums, and of course, plenty of Pinoko.
