Synopsis
The much-demanded romantic adventure finally arrives in English! From the creator of Natsuyuki Rendezvous comes a whimsical and exciting timeslip romance where a modern high school girl masquerades as her lookalike in the early 20th century while navigating a complicated web of familial ties and intrigue.
See why Rainy Day Serenade is one of the most-requested Kodansha manga of all time!
"Futile as it may be, it won't last forever. I can long a little, secretly, in my heart..."
High schooler Hina Kagairi is stuck in the year 1907. Her plans to go on a movie date with her crush are dashed as she finds herself masquerading as her Meiji-era doppleganger, Hinako. Hinako, a young noble lady, is betrothed to Takaaki Hongo, the scion of Hongo Trading, whose family is considered nouveau riche. Despite feeling adrift in the world, Hina has a mysterious tie to Takaaki through dreams she's had since she was a little girl. And what may have connected them is a necklace that belonged to her Great-Gran. Unfortunately, these precious jewels were lost and bestowed without thought on a magician's apprentice, Chiyo. Determined to retrieve this heirloom (and a possible key to returning home), Hina and Takaaki rush off to Yokohama and board the ship hosting the Amahisa Troupe. But they may soon regret leaving shore...
